Kennecott Magna Power Plant
IDR has executed the Decommissioning, Demolition & Remediation (DD&R) for Rio Tinto Kennecott Magna Power Plant (RTKMPP) located in Magna, UT. RTKMPP produced 435 MW over four units. Units 1,2, & 3 are 55 MW units and Unit 4 was a 270 MW unit.
To date IDR has performed all the Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) & Universal Waste (UW) removal and disposal for all four units as well as all out buildings. IDR is currently performing the ACM removal on the 4-250’ tall 35’ diameter wind screens that have asbestos coating on the exteriors. IDR has successfully harvested over 500,000 lbs. of non - ferrous materials and sold over $250,000 in assets (valves, motors, pumps, MCC’s, transformers, etc.). IDR has safely and successfully cut and craned over 3,000 linear feet of coal conveyors to date.
IDR has worked 35,000 Man Hours to date performing all the above services turnkey. IDR has had zero (0) OSHA recordable, zero (0) fatalities, zero (0) EPA and/or UT environmental citations or releases. This project is scheduled for completion in May 2023.
