Reid Gardner Generating Station

The decommissioning of a 650 megawatt coal-fired electric power generation facility situated on 1,280 acres. The facility contained 74 acres of storage ponds, evaporation ponds, and a 180-acre landfill. Scope of services included asset recovery, asbestos abatement, hazardous material collection and disposal, demolition, relocation of the pond contents to the onsite landfill and closure of the landfill. Asbestos abatement included the removal of friable and non-friable materials including boiler, tank and pipe insulation, floor tile and mastics, roofing, transite and other materials. Hazardous material collection included the collection and disposal machine oil, hydraulic fluids, PCB oil, mercury switches, light tubes, ballasts, batteries and other classified wastes. Demolition included the removal 4 boilers, 7,000 LF of coal conveyors, coal hoppers, ball mills, 4 turbine/generators and 4 stacks.
